Guide
How to Get Published on Dezeen
Submission guide for architects targeting the world's most-visited architecture and design website.
What Is Dezeen
Dezeen is the world's most popular and influential architecture and design website, with more than 3 million monthly readers and over 7 million followers across social media platforms. Founded in 2006, it has become the primary destination for architects, designers, and design-conscious consumers looking for what is new, innovative, and noteworthy in the built environment.
For Canadian architects, and particularly those working in British Columbia, a Dezeen feature positions your practice on the international stage.
What Makes a Project Publishable
Freshness. The project should feel new and offer something the Dezeen audience has not seen before.
Innovation. Dezeen's audience expects projects that push the discipline forward in materiality, sustainability, spatial strategy, or cultural response.
Newsworthiness. Dezeen is a news platform. What is the headline? What makes this project worth writing about today?
A good story. The client brief, the site challenges, the design evolution, the cultural context.
Fantastic images. This is non-negotiable. The images must be exceptional.
Dezeen publishes dozens of projects weekly. The photography is the first filter. If the images do not immediately communicate quality and innovation, the submission does not advance.

How to Submit
Submit your project by email to press@dezeen.com. There is no online portal, no form, and no submission fee for editorial consideration.
What to Include
JPEG images, minimum 3000 pixels on the shortest side. This is a hard requirement.
As many images as possible. 25 to 40 images gives editors the widest selection.
Text about the project. Write it as you would want it published.
Plans and sections. Dezeen notes that articles with plans and sections are among their most popular content.
Full credits. Architect, interior designer, structural engineer, landscape architect, builder, photographer.
Videos. If you have project video or drone footage, include it.
Materials information. Specific products, manufacturers, and material choices.
Photography Technical Requirements
Format: JPEG files only.
Resolution: Minimum 3000 pixels on the shortest side. For lead images, aim for 4000 pixels or more.
Quantity: Send as many as possible.
Processing: Dezeen requires images to be "unadulterated." Minor retouching and colour correction are acceptable. Sky replacements, heavy HDR, and dramatic processing are not.
Variety: Exterior views, interior views, detail shots, aerial/drone views, and context shots.

Exclusivity
This is the single most important strategic consideration. Projects sent exclusively to Dezeen are far more likely to be published. State this clearly in your email: "This project is being offered exclusively to Dezeen."
If Dezeen is your priority target, pitch them first. Hold the project from all other outlets until Dezeen has responded.
Include Plans and Sections
Dezeen specifically requests architectural drawings and notes that articles featuring plans and sections are among their most popular and most shared content. Include floor plans, building sections, site plans, and any relevant diagrams.
Dezeen Awards 2026
Separate from editorial submissions, Dezeen runs one of the architecture world's most prestigious awards programs with 49 categories in 2026.
Early bird deadline: March 25, 2026. Final entry deadline: June 3, 2026.
New for 2026: Regional Showcases recognizing work from specific geographic regions, particularly relevant for Canadian architects.
Strategic Tips
Do not post everything on social media first. Save the finished project photography for the editorial pitch.
Save your best for press. Identify your five strongest images and hold them exclusively for the Dezeen pitch.
Tell a story. Your submission text should read like the beginning of an article.
Pitch at the right time. Major architecture events generate heavy editorial competition. Pitching during quieter periods can improve your chances.
